- A different car design: Your car rental in Cyprus will have the steering wheel on the right, and you will drive on the left side of the road.
- No horns: Using your horn near a hospital or honking between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am is forbidden.
- Parking: When you rent a car in Cyprus, you will most likely have to park in a paid zone in cities and towns. You can pay with an app, coins, banknotes, or credit cards.
- Speed limits: Cyprus city roads have a speed limit of 50-65 km/h (31-40 mph), rural roads are 80 km/h (50 mph), and highways and expressways are 100 km/h (62 mph).
- The northern island: The north side of the island is a different country, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. If you want to drive there, make sure you have the proper permissions and documents.

Good to know when renting in Cyprus
You must be at least 21 years old with a license held for 3 years to rent a car from SIXT. An underage driver fee applies. Some car categories require the driver to be 25.
Your license must have been valid for 3 years. If it is in a non-Roman alphabet it must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. Chinese drivers need a translation of their license.
One-way rentals between SIXT stations are allowed for some vehicles. An additional fee may apply.
Cross-border rentals to Northern Cyprus are not allowed. If you do take your rental car across the border your vehicle protection will be invalid.
We only accept major credit cards at our Cyprus locations. Mastercard, Visa and American Express are valid forms of payment.
