Driving Tips for Denmark

To maximize seeing Denmark, a car is ideal. Known for its good roads, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with local customs.

  • Headlights: Headlights must be on at all times while driving in Denmark.
  • Share the road: Cars must always yield to cyclists. Watch for cyclists when turning, and always be alert for the placement of the bike lane.
  • Tolls: Major bridges, including the Oresund Bridge and Storebelt Bridge, charge tolls. Be prepared with SIXT’s prepaid tolling.
  • Roundabouts: Always yield to cars arriving from the left at roundabouts.
  • Parking discs: Parking on the street in Denmark requires a visible disc in the windshield. Your SIXT rental car will have this prepared for you.
  • Signage: Danish road signs use standard international symbols, but it’s helpful to familiarize yourself with Danish words, like ‘udkorsel’ for exit and ‘indkorsel’ for entrance.

Best places to visit in and around Denmark

Denmark offers the ability to journey through Scandinavian design history, with everything from impressive historic structures to marvels of modern design.

  • Danish Riviera: Admire the coastal region due north of Copenhagen, home to towns like Hornbaek, Gilleleje, and Tisvilde, known for its beaches dotted with picturesque bathing huts.
  • Forest Tower: Located an hour’s drive from Copenhagen at Camp Adventure, Forest Tower was opened in 2020 and offers a scenic walk to a spiral tower 45 meters high. Climb the tower to view a new forest vantage.
  • Frederiksborg Castle: Situated on three islands, encircled by a lake and impressive gardens, is housing the Museum of National History since 1878. Only a 40 km drive from Copenhagen, the castle offers a wealth of ways to enjoy the day.

Very hot room with all the ticket desks in - and don't forget to take a paper ticket as you wait your turn to be served! I was helped by a FABULOUS, efficient, smiley person called Lorena, who deserves to be commended by management: I rent a lot of cars all over Europe and North America, and she got me on the road with a smile on my face in record time

The place a bit gar from the terminal and all car companies as well I would suggest to send a map through the email after the confirmation of renting the car shows the office location and how to reach there before he arrives to copenhagen airpot so that he can go directly instead of asking people about the location and where to go . Mr Hasan in Sixt airport office was so kind and cooperative.
